Manchester City head into the transfer window being a little more active than they were in the last summer. With lifting the UEFA Champions League trophy and defending the Premier League title as the Sky Blues’ primary goals for next season, it is of utmost importance that they bring in new faces to strengthen the squad even more.

Sergio Aguero’s exit in January seemed as if it dealt a huge blow to the Sky Blues attack and Jack Grealish was brought in to step up for the position that lay vacant but the English forward failed to impress. The Mancunian giants have reportedly solved the striker situation ahead of the next season.

Key Areas Manchester City Need To Focus Upon Ahead Of The Summer Transfer Window

Attack

In a recent report by Sports Illustrated it was stated that Erling Haaland is now set to be joining the reigning champions over a blockbuster £63 million deal. The Sky Blues were in talks with the Dortmund star over the past few weeks as they looked to solve their number nine problem and are in line to secure the services of one of the most clinical finishers in the world.

Ever since the top goal scorer for the Sky Blues left Etihad, Guardiola and his peers have been on the lookout for a striker to fill the void. Haaland could very well be the last piece to finish the puzzle. He will remain one of the key signings for City as the youngster looks to head into the next season in the Mancunian Outfit.

Midfield

Club captain Fernandinho is now set to depart with his exit from Etihad set to create yet another void in the midfield area. Guardiola could look to bring in a defensive central midfielder in the upcoming transfer window who will fill the void and could also provide competition to his current midfield compromising of Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva and Rodri in the starting XI.

Defence

The Sky Blues remain well-stocked in the midfield department but that is not the case for the backline. Pep Guardiola could bring in a young right back to act as an understudy for Kyle Walker, who could develop into a long term solution in that area of the pitch.
