One player destined for a bright future at Manchester City is attacking midfielder Divine Mukasa. The 17-year-old played in Manchester City’s 3-nil friendly win over Palermo last weekend. The fact that Mukasa played in the match is a testament to his undoubted talent and potential. Looking ahead to the 25/26 season, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Divine Mukasa spend the season training with Pep Guardiola’s squad next season. Now, a new report has revealed what Manchester City’s plans are for Divine Mukasa next season. It seems he is set to take the next step in his development.
Simon Bajkowski has reported for Manchester Evening News that Divine Mukasa is set to primarily play in Manchester City’s Elite Development Squad next season. Furthermore, Bajkowski reports that Mukasa will likely be given opportunities to train with the Manchester City first-team throughout the 25/26 campaign.
After a dominant 24/25 season with Manchester City’s under-18 side, Divine Mukasa announced himself as a player of the future for Manchester City. With his size, athleticism, and exceptional technical ability, football could be Mukasa’s oyster. Especially if he fulfils his potential. The hope is that he can do that at Manchester City.
Despite being 17 years old, it is clear that Mukasa is highly regarded at Manchester City. The fact that he travelled to Italy last weekend highlights this. Mukasa grabbed an assist during his 30 minutes on the pitch in Italy. He didn’t look out of place playing with his more experienced teammates. Based on his performance against Palermo, it’s easy to see why he’s so highly regarded at City.
But it seems that Manchester City’s plan for Divine Mukasa has been revealed. He will be a prominent player for Manchester City’s EDS side. Mukasa is likely to be on the fringe of Pep Guardiola’s squad and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him make his official first-team debut at some point next season.
