Amid increasing tensions between Neymar and Paris Saint-Germain – both with the fans and the club management – the Brazilian, who remains under contract until 2027, could be set for a summer departure from the French capital.

While Chelsea and Manchester United have been mentioned as potential suitors in the last few weeks, the 31-year-old has this week been contacted by Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, according to L’Équipe today.

The Catalan coach reached out to the former Barcelona forward in order to enquire about his state of mind and his intentions ahead of the transfer window. However, L’Équipe add that the likelihood that Neymar could move to the Premier League champions remains very low.

Neymar is expected to return to full training at the end of the summer, as he continues to recover from an ankle ligament operation, which PSG’s medical staff will hope can spell an end to his recurring injury issues over the past few campaigns. In the half-season he played this year, he found the net 13 times in 20 Ligue 1 appearances, playing a key part in PSG’s record-breaking 11th title win.
