The arrival of Omar Marmoush from Eintracht Frankfurt during the January transfer window did bolster Pep Guardiola’s attacking options. Marmoush had shown flashes of what he is capable of during his first four appearances for Manchester City. But yesterday, during City’s 4-nil win over Newcastle, we saw Manchester City’s new attacking weapon unleashed as Omar Marmoush scored his first hat trick for the club.

The strengths of Marmoush’s game were on full display yesterday. His ability to get in behind the Newcastle defence with his intelligent runs and movement was a constant threat to Eddie Howe’s side. It was this movement that paved the way for his first goal for Manchester City. He made a good run through the heart of Newcastle’s defence as he was picked out by Ederson. He outbodied Kieran Trippier and calmly chipped Martin Dubravka to register his first goal for his new club. It was a superb goal and showed exactly what Marmoush adds to City’s play.
