Tickets for the heavyweight clash have been quickly snapped up by fans of both clubs and the game has now sold out with a little over a fortnight to go before matchday.

Manchester City go into the new season looking to regain some silverware after a trophyless campaign in 2022/2023. The Cityzens have not won the Barclays Women’s Super League title since 2016. Chelsea were double winners last season. They won the Barclays Women’s Super League title and Women’s FA Cup. The Blues are six-time champions of England and go into the new season as the favourites to retain their crown.

It was Manchester City who were victorious in the last league meeting at the Joie Stadium in March. The Cityzens defeated Chelsea 2-0 thanks to goals from Filippa Angeldahl and Lauren Hemp. Chelsea won the reverse fixture by the same scoreline.

Manchester City’s Barclays Women’s Super League fixture against Chelsea at the Joie Stadium kicks-off at 12.30pm on Sunday 8 October 2023.
