There was bad news for the world champions with Kyle Walker suffering what appeared to be a hamstring injury. City’s captain had to be substituted in the 19th minute. Walker’s injury robbed the Wembley spectacle of the match up between Vinicius Junior and City’s captain. Manchester City will now be sweating on Walker’s fitness ahead of their crucial Premier League encounter with Arsenal.

The rest of Manchester City’s English contingent got through the game unscathed as England went down to Brazil. John Stones did his job for England as he looked like England’s best defender throughout the game. Stones was assured on the ball and calm in possession in a polished display from the defender.

Phil Foden played well for Gareth Southgate’s side. He started on the wing and was one of Gareth Southgate’s teams’ most dangerous players in the first half. He was moved centrally in the second half and didn’t have as much influence in a midfield role.
