With the football on hold at the moment, we’ve been thinking about who gets in Manchester City’s all-time XI.

Today we’re choosing the goalkeeper.

Here are the nominees

3rd – Joe Hart

His stock may have fallen in recent years but at the peak of his powers, Hart was one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

Signed from Shrewsbury Town in the summer of 2006, the future England international didn’t properly become City’s No1 until 2010.

But in the following years, he helped the club end its three-decade long wait for a trophy and left in 2016 having won two Premier League titles, two League Cups and the FA Cup.

2nd – Ederson

The Brazilian briefly became the most expensive goalkeeper in British football history when he joined City from Benfica for ÂŁ35m.

But he swiftly proved to be an inspired signing and his lightning reflexes and super cool distribution played a fundamental part in the club’s record breaking 2017/18 Centurions season.

The following season, Ederson was superb again as City claimed an unprecedented English domestic treble, and he will surely be the club’s No1 for many more years to come.

And the winner is
 Bert Trautmann

Trautmann may be the least decorated goalkeeper in this list, but we don’t recall Hart or Ederson having a Hollywood movie made about them recently, do you?

The German came to Britain as a Prisoner of War during WWII and signed for City in 1949.

He will forever be a part of club and, indeed, football folklore for famously playing on after breaking his neck during the 1956 FA Cup final.

They don’t make them like Bert any more.

Check back tomorrow when we will be choosing Manchester City’s greatest ever
 right-back.
