Designers working on Manchester City’s 2025/26 home shirt will apply a never-before-seen feature to the kit, according to new leaked information.
The next edition will follow an initially controversial release that split opinion amongst supporters, but has ultimately proven to be a major hit after being worn by Pep Guardiola’s stars on the pitch.
The 2024/25 home shirt revealed by Manchester City and PUMA over the summer was ‘designed with Manchester in its fabric’, as a traditional sky blue kit features ‘threads of 0161’ in the trim through a graffiti art design.
Despite the initial opinion around the shirt, the club moved on course to breaking their sales record following the official release, and intend to sell approximately 700,000 shirts across the globe in the next two financial quarters up to Christmas alone, according to one club insider.
Now, while that shirt continues to be sold around the globe alongside the other three releases by Manchester City and PUMA, attentions are now turning towards next season and how the club could be appearing on the pitch for another campaign.
According to the information of Footy Headlines, the 2025/26 Manchester City home shirt is expected to feature one of the club’s historic design elements, combining the traditional sky blue base colour with a ‘sash’.
Whilst fans will recognise that a sash has never featured on a home shirt of the club before, it is a design that is fondly connected to the club’s history, and first appeared on away shirts of the club back in the 1970s, and on several of the most popular shirts since then.
The report clarifies that at this stage there is no further information on the shirt, and their image has been put together for ‘illustration purposes’ only. Furthermore, it is stated that the 2025/26 Manchester City home shirt will launch in ‘early summer 2025’.
One of Manchester City’s all-time favourite shirts, released by Umbro for the 2009/10 season, saw the club’s third strip feature a black and red sash across a predominantly white shirt, with gold detailing on manufacturer logos.
Furthermore, the Nike release for the club’s 2018/19 third shirt also featured a similar design, combining a base colour of purple with a striking orange sash dominating the front of the kit, with a subtle moon surface feature in the background.
For now, there are now unofficial images of what could be Manchester City’s new home shirt for the 2025/26 season, but those on social media will no doubt be keeping a close eye on developments over the coming months.
