Sparta Rotterdam are now expected to secure the season-long loan signing of Manchester City prospect Kayky for the 2024/25 campaign, according to reports.
The highly-rated Brazilian talent most recently was sent away by Manchester City on a season-long loan agreement with fellow City Football Group side Bahia, but saw his spell with the club cut short through a seismic injury.
Having sustained an anterior cruciate ligament injury in July 2023, Kayky returned to the City Football Academy and was issued with the need for surgery and a lengthy treatment process before returning to on-field action, in a route set to take between eight and nine months.
With the Brazilian now at the tail-end of his recovery process and undertaking ball work on the field as well as working alongside teammates at the City Football Academy, Manchester City have been able to field transfer interest in the player.
Given the need for continuous development within the European game, in an attempt to get his career back on track after difficulties since joining Manchester City, Etihad officials have been keen to sound out an opportunity on the continent.
According to the information of Rômulo Giacomin, reporting for PL Brasil, Kayky is now expected to join Sparta Rotterdam on a season-long loan from Manchester City for the 2024/25 campaign, with no option to buy.
Kayky remains close to Manchester City’s first-team group and has struck up a fine bond with certain members of the team, recently spotted with close friends and family alongside new Etihad Stadium star Savinho.
Whilst the player’s route into Pep Guardiola’s first-team picture may be blocked through a new round of exciting talents emerging in wide positions, there remains a hope that Kayky could yet build a fine career within the European game.
