Manchester City winger and Algeria international Riyad Mahrez (32) is being wooed by PIF-funded Saudi Arabia outfit Al-Ahli, according to a report from L’Equipe. The 32-year-old has played a vital part in City’s treble-winning campaign, registering 15 goals and 13 assists in 47 games played in all competitions. The Sarcelles-born forward signed a contract extension last year, tying him to the Premier League champions until 2025. He first joined from Leicester – where he had won the league title as well – back in 2018.
The French publication understand that Al-Ahli are increasingly insistent in trying to obtain the 2019 AFCON winner’s nod. Should the PIF-funded side manage to agree personal terms with Mahrez, they would need to find an agreement with Manchester City over a transfer fee. Several high-profile Premier League players have signed for the Jeddah-based outfit recently, namely Senegalese goalkeeper Edouard Mendy (31) and Brazilian centre-forward Roberto Firmino (31).
