Pete O’Rourke, in his exclusive report for Football Insider, has stated that Manchester City might let go of Jack Grealish in the upcoming summer transfer window. He is not an important part of Pep Guardiola’s system currently and hence City don’t want to keep him at the club for a long time and raise profits from him.

He was sensational during his tenure for Aston Villa and was also the captain of the side. City then signed him for £100 million in the summer transfer window of 2021 and everyone thought that he would take the world by storm at the Etihad. However, he has not been a consistent performer for the first team at Manchester City, despite showing his spark at certain moments of his tenure.

Jack Grealish has not scored any goals so far in the Premier League 2024/2025 season. He has assisted 1 goal in 16 matches so far in the Premier League 2024/2025 season. Looking into his passing aspect of the game, Grealish passes the ball roughly 50.73 times during a game with a pass completion rate of 90.91%.

He also plays 3.27 key passes each game. Overall, Grealish’s xA (expected assists) output is 0.32 per 90 minutes. However, his goals and assists tally clearly show that he has underperformed very badly in the ongoing season. Grealish has played a total of 605 minutes in the Premier League, which clearly shows that he has not had much game time in the ongoing season.

Despite his bad performances this season, the English winger is a flair player with exceptional technical gifts. His low centre of gravity and smooth dribbling allow him to go through tight defenses, often drawing fouls with his ball-carrying prowess.

Will it be a good decision?

Grealish’s vision and precise passing make him a creative hub, setting up teammates with clever through balls. While not a prolific scorer, his work rate and tenacity off the ball bolster his team’s pressing game. His strength in retaining possession under pressure is elite, though his finishing can lack ruthlessness.

So, taking into account his qualities, a number of clubs are interested in his services. Borussia Dortmund and Inter Milan are the clubs who want to sign him. Grealish might look to get away from the Premier League and get his career back on track somewhere else. It will be a good decision from City as well, as they can get funds from the sale of a player whom they no longer want at the club.
