Manchester City will remain dominant for a time but Newcastle United will eventually catch them

My heart went out to Coventry City after their last gasp ‘winner’ in Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final against Manchester United at Wembley was ruled out, denying them a 4-3 victory.

They had trailed 3-0 in the tie and this would have been a comeback that would have been talked about for years.

The fickle Manchester United fans thought that the goal was legitimate and many flooded towards the exits.

As I watched the game in Tynemouth Club with my mates, we all had a feeling that the chance of an upset and an FA Cup fairytale happening before our very eyes had disappeared.

Man Utd kept their nerve in the resulting penalty shoot-out but their old boy Mark Robins can feel proud of his courageous side.

This game reawakened memories of the 1987 FA Cup Final when Coventry came back to defeat Spurs 3-2 and win their only ever major trophy.

Toon hero Brian Kilcline lifted the trophy that unforgettable day.

I always had a bit of a soft spot for Coventry City because of their former manager and chairman Jimmy Hill.

The club were regulars in the top flight for three decades after achieving two promotions in the 1960s.

Anyhow, we now have the unappetising scenario of a successive all Manchester FA Cup Final.

How the hell the Salford reds have achieved this is a somewhat of a mystery to me because I think they’re bloody hopeless.

I want the real United to go down to Mould Trafford in a few weeks and tear them to bits again.

As I have said in a recent article, ten Hag is a dead man walking and Sir Jim Ratcliffe cannot wait to pull the trigger.

I want Newcastle United to be the ones who issue him with the last rites at the Theatre of Screams.

Manchester City will also no doubt beat Man Utd again in the Wembley end of season showpiece (if you can even call it that anymore).

Manchester United and Chelsea are the first two on our chopping list this season as we steadily hunt the Septics down.

Spurs, Arsenal and Liverpool will be in our sights next season.

Pep and Manchester City will still be the dominant club in the EPL for the next couple of seasons but Newcastle United will eventually catch them too.
