Up next for Manchester City is a crucial Champions League fixture against Club Brugge. Pep Guardiola’s side simply must win on Wednesday night to book their place in the knockout stage of the competition. As they prepare to take on the Belgian side they will have to do so without Jeremy Doku. The dynamic winger is set to miss City’s crucial match at the Etihad.

Speaking after his team’s 3-1 win over Chelsea Pep Guardiola told the media that Doku will miss his team’s pivotal fixture against Club Brugge. The Belgian international is also in doubt for City’s next Premier League fixture against Arsenal. When asked how long Jeremy Doku will be out for Guardiola told the media: “A while. I don’t know how much. But a while. He will not be ready for Wednesday for sure, I don’t think. For Arsenal, we’ll see.”

Jeremy Doku has missed Manchester City’s last two games against PSG and Chelsea due to injury. It is a blow for the Belgian international. Doku was man-of-the-match against Ipswich Town in his last appearance for Manchester City. There was a maturity to his performance at Portman Road and he had appeared set to take his game to another level based on his performance against Ipswich Town. The hope is that the injury Doku has sustained isn’t too serious and he can hopefully return for Manchester City’s Premier League fixture against Arsenal.

That remains to be seen. But for now, Manchester City must beat Club Brugge without their dynamic winger. That is a blow for Pep Guardiola’s side but it does give other players the opportunity to step up in his absence.
