As previously reported, there are a host of elite European clubs ready to battle for the signing of Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sané. However, is the 27-year-old more likely to remain in Bavaria for the foreseeable future?

A phenomenal start to the season for Sané has seen the former Schalke winger be regarded as Der Rekordmeister’s best player this campaign. With 16 goal contributions in 18 games, Sané has rejuvenated his career playing alongside Harry Kane, as a blossoming relationship is starting to appear between the pair.

However, due to his contract being set to expire in 2025, there is a cloud of uncertainty hanging over his head. Bayern are yet to enter contract negotiations with their in-form star, which means that if they are to avoid losing him on a free transfer, they will have to sell him this summer.

Barcelona and Real Madrid were the first clubs to show interest in Sané, before reports came out indicating that Liverpool were set to break their transfer record to lure the 27-year-old to Anfield as a replacement for Mohamed Salah. Nevertheless, as reported by Christian Falk, Manchester City are now looking to re-sign Sané.

With a number of clubs showing interest in the winger, Bayern will have to act swiftly if they want to prevent his exit from the club. However, due to the performances he is producing on the pitch, a new contract will mean a significant pay rise from his current €20m a year contract, and those at the Säbener Straße have to consider whether he is worth the long-term investment.
