Article image:Manchester City vs Everton: Latest City injury news and predicted City starting eleven

Manchester City take on Everton at Goodison Park today in what will be their final fixture at the venue. For Pep Guardiola’s side, today’s match is pivotal in their chase to secure Champions League football for next season. With Newcastle set to take on Aston Villa on Sunday, today’s match is a chance for City to solidify their place in the top-5 of the Premier League table. But they’ll face a tough Everton side who will be hard to beat at home under manager David Moyes.

Here is the latest Manchester City injury news and my predicted City starting eleven ahead of today’s crucial Premier League fixture.

Latest City injury news.

Manchester City enters today’s match with a host of players unavailable due to injury. Rodri, Erling Haaland, Nathan Ake and John Stones are all out of today’s match. Although, Pep Guardiola did tell the media yesterday that Haaland, Ake and Stones are making progress in their recovery from injury.

Joining them on the sidelines for today’s match is Ederson. Manchester City’s number-one keeper went down with a groin injury during the second half of his team’s 5-2 win over Crystal Palace last weekend. Pep Guardiola informed the media yesterday that Ederson is out of today’s match. He also told the media that he is unsure when Ederson will return from injury.

There is also good news on the injury front for Manchester City. Phil Foden and Manuel Akanji have both trained this week and are in contention to feature in today’s match.

Predicted City starting eleven.

Stefan Ortega: With Ederson out Stefan Ortega will obviously start today’s match.

Matheus Nunes: I’m only expecting two changes to the team that beat Crystal Palace and that’s Matheus Nunes replacing Rico Lewis at right-back alongside Ortega replacing the injured Ederson.

Ruben Dias: He is beginning to form a strong partnership with Josko Gvardiol in City’s defence and I can’t see that changing today.

Josko Gvardiol: He has played well at centre-back recently, and there’s no reason for him not to resume alongside Ruben Dias today.

Nico O’Reilly: O’Reilly deserves to once again start at left-back today. His ability to get forward could be crucial in today’s match against a stubborn Everton rearguard.

Nico: I’d be stunned if Nico didn’t start today. I’m expecting the same midfield that started against Crystal Palace to start today’s match.

Mateo Kovacic: The Croatian international has played well of late. That form should see him start at Goodison Park.

Ilkay Gundogan: His form has improved dramatically in recent matches. That should see him start today.

Kevin De Bruyne: De Bruyne wound back the clock against Palace. If he can do it again today he could decide today’s match.

James McAtee: He scored one last weekend and should’ve had a hat trick. He deserves another start after his performance against Palace.

Omar Marmoush: I can’t see a Manchester City starting lineup without Marmoush in it at the moment. He’s in form and his intelligence and movement could be crucial for Manchester City against Everton.
