The transfer fee agreed upon between Eintracht Frankfurt and Manchester City for Omar Marmoush has now been revealed in a new report from Germany.
The two clubs are widely understood to have now reached a mutual agreement over a deal for the 25-year-old forward, who is expected to become the Premier League champions’ third arrival of the window when announced.
City had swiftly identified the Egyptian international as a primary target for the winter market, after it became evident that the club desperately needed a new name and face to share the goalscoring responsibilities with Erling Haaland following Julian Alvarez’s exit last summer.
Marmoush has been doing just that in German football in the opening half of the ongoing campaign, scoring a remarkable 15 goals and providing 10 assists in just 17 Bundesliga appearances at the halfway stage of the season.
As such, given the player’s importance to Eintracht Frankfurt and their pursuit of a Champions League place this campaign, the club have been tough negotiators in discussions with City, who found no problem in reaching a deal over personal terms with the player.
But after days of back and forth between all those involved in talks, including Manchester City’s outgoing director of football Txiki Begiristain, all parties have seemingly reached an agreement with a price now surfacing following some uncertainty.
That is according to the information of Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, who reveals that Eintracht Frankfurt and Manchester City’s verbal agreement over a transfer for Omar Marmoush is worth €80 million including potential bonus payments.
However, from the perspective of Eintracht Frankfurt, the deal is not yet finalised as ‘crucial documents’ are still pending, and with Marmoush himself still yet to sign a Manchester City contract until 2029, the Egyptian forward has not yet been cleared for a medical.
As for the Premier League champions, City officials reportedly want to ensure that Omar Marmoush is not included in Eintracht Frankfurt’s squad for Friday night’s home game against Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga.
For now, it remains to be seen when Marmoush will arrive in England to undergo his Etihad Stadium medical testing and be put in front of the club’s vast media team to partake in various activities that will form his official unveiling as a Pep Guardiola player.
One thing is for certain regardless of the player’s availability for Eintracht Frankfurt this week, and that is that Omar Marmoush is hugely unlikely to be present in the Manchester City matchday squad against Ipswich Town on Sunday afternoon.
A more realistic opportunity for the former VfL Wolfsburg playmaker is the Premier League champions’ next home game in the English top-flight, as Chelsea visit the Etihad Stadium a week on Saturday in an evening kick-off slot.
