For the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic, Manchester City are scheduled to travel the Far East in the summer, with Japan and Thailand the next pre-season destinations for Pep Guardiola's men, according to reports.

Jack Gaughan from the Daily Mail is reporting that the Premier League champions have pencilled in a tour of both Japan and Thailand for their 2023/24 pre-season. The last time the Blues visited the Far East, they faced City Football Group side Yokohama F. Marinos – a fixture Gaughan has stated is likely to be repeated.

Although plans are yet to be confirmed, City were reportedly impressed with the facilities the last time they were in Japan and are expected to spend longer there compared to the Thailand leg of the tour.

Last season, City travelled to the United States of America for pre-season with games against Club America in Houston and Bayern Munich in Wisconsin – a game in which Erling Haaland scored the only goal in a 1-0 win.

Much was said of City's pre-season last year, with supporters suggesting the Blues were underprepared heading into the 2022 Community Shield against Liverpool at the King Power Stadium.

Regarding the Community Shield this year, the Premier League is scheduled to start on the weekend of the 12th of August, and one can assume the typical curtain-raiser will take place on the weekend preceding that; City's confirmed pre-season plans are likely to consider their potential participation.
