Manchester City are confident they can convince Newcastle to cash in on Valentino Livramento this summer as they prepare a formal offer for the English full-back, as per a new report.
City have begun the transfer window in strong fashion, announcing the arrivals of Rayan Ait-Nouri from Wolves, Marcus Bettinelli from Chelsea, Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan and Rayan Cherki from Lyon.
The quartet were brought into the door in time for the FIFA Club World Cup and have flown to the United States as part of Pep Guardiola’s squad for the tournament, which will see Manchester City face Wydad AC in their opener in midweek.
City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak outlined the club’s ambitions of winning the Club World Cup and with the injection of four new signings, Guardiola will have been given a breath of fresh air after a long-drawn, disappointing 2024-25 campaign.
It is understood that Manchester City are eyeing an additional few signings between now and the end of the summer transfer window in early September as the focus shifts to outgoings and decisions on contracts of certain players deemed surplus to requirements.
Kyle Walker has been told to find a new club following his return from a loan stint at AC Milan, whom he joined in January to see exile after losing his place in the Manchester City starting XI courtesy of a horror run of performances in the fall of 2024.
Walker has not travelled to the United States for the Club World Cup and right-back remains a key area to address for Viana and co, who are believed to be eyeing a swoop for Newcastle and England right-back Valentino Livramento.
Livramento has three years remaining on his current deal at St. James’ Park and Newcastle manager Eddie Howe is adamant on keeping hold of Livramento, who has emerged as one of the best right-backs in England after moving to Tyneside from Southampton in 2023.
As per a new report by TBR Football, Manchester City believe they can still convince Newcastle to cash in on Livramento and are prepared to offer around £40 million for the England international.
Newcastle are understood to have no intention of selling the 22-year-old, who was one of Howe’s best players in the 2024-25 season and has his best years ahead of him. The length of time remaining on Livramento’s contract also poses a stumbling block.
Manchester City will find little success in trying to negotiate a fee with Newcastle and unless Livramento tries to force a move by handing in a transfer request – which is just conjecture as things stand – it is unlikely a deal gets done at present.
Talks between the two clubs are understood to have met an impasse as Manchester City shift their focus to the Club World Cup – as it remains to be seen what the remainder of the transfer window holds for Livramento’s future at St. James’ Park.
