Manchester City reportedly haven’t given up their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham, despite Real Madrid agreeing personal terms with him.
The England international is widely regarded as one of the best young midfielders in the world.
He has made tremendous progress in the last few years and has a very bright future ahead of him.
Several top European clubs have been linked with an interest in the 19-year-old, but recent reports suggest Madrid have won the transfer race for him.
Marca claimed the Spanish giants are close to finalising a deal after holding talks with the player and Dortmund.
But according to Spanish newspaper AS, Man City are still trying to secure Bellingham’s services.
City landed Erling Braut Haaland from Dortmund last year and believe they can also lure Bellingham to the Premier League. They boast financial muscle and know how to negotiate well.
Ilkay Gundogan could leave in the summer transfer window, with his current deal at the Etihad Stadium expiring at the end of this campaign.
Kalvin Phillips arrived from Leeds United last summer in a £42 million deal, but his performances have been unconvincing.
If they manage to sign Bellingham, it would represent a massive coup for the Premier League giants.
The midfielder is a great dribbler, possesses excellent ball control and is capable of exploiting any openings in the opposition area.
But Madrid have the advantage now, having already agreed personal terms with him.
City must come up with an exceptional offer to change Bellingham’s mind.
