Manchester City had a €50m bid for the midfielder rejected over the summer after they missed out on Jorginho.

Pep Guardiola is still on the search for a deep-lying midfielder that will be a long-term replacement for 33-year-old Fernandinho.

Le10 Sport report that Guardiola will target the 21-year-old in the January window.

However, Ndombele extended his Lyon contract in September and is set to be on Lyon’s books until 2023.

As a result of this development, City will likely have to pay an even larger fee to secure Ndombele’s services.

In addition, he’s been extremely impressive on the pitch for Lyon and have captured Tottenham’s attention as well.

He was arguably the best player in Lyon’s stunning 2-1 win at the Etihad Stadium over City in the UEFA Champions League.
