Manchester City are reportedly interested in completing the signing of former Manchester United star Paul Pogba.
Pogba is currently a free agent and is in search of a club after Juventus terminated his contract last month.
The World Cup winner was handed a four-year ban in February for a doping offence but in October, this was reduced to 18 months after the player lodged a successful appeal.
He is set to resume training in January and will be eligible to line up in competitive fixtures once again from March.
So far, Pogba has been linked to Marseille, Newcastle and the MLS. A move to the Saudi Pro League has also been suggested.
Ex-United forward Louis Saha recently said that he heard rumours that a return to Old Trafford is also on the cards for Pogba.
Now, Miguel Delaney of the Independent that Pep Guardiola’s Man City are plotting a swoop for Pogba but the player is reluctant to give the green light due to his ties with United.
Delaney reveals, “Manchester City have sounded out Paul Pogba about a potential move on his return to football in March.”
“The player himself is understood to be reluctant to move back to Manchester, however, due to his experience there with local rivals United.”
It’s understood that City – who are currently without Rodri – have been looking for reinforcements in the market and have identified Pogba as someone who could slot into their midfield.
Guardiola is thought to be an admirer of the Carrington academy graduate.
Over his two spells with United, Pogba made 233 appearances for the club. He scored 39 goals and assisted another 48 in that period.
