On the international stage, Fujino has been capped by Japan on 24 occasions while she has scored seven goals for her country. Fujino was named in the Nadeshiko squads for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023 and for this summer’s Olympic Games.

After completing her move to Manchester City, Fujino said “In the league, this is a top-level club both physically and technically. That is something that I find very appealing, the size of the team and the organisation. It’s very important to play in this kind of environment.

“This is a very big club with a lot of history, so I’m really excited to come here.”

Fujino becomes Manchester City’s third summer signing following the recent additions of attacker Vivianne Miedema and full-back Risa Shimizu.
