Manchester City have completed the signing of goalkeeper Sandy MacIver from Barclays Women’s Super League rivals Everton for an undisclosed fee.

FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the transfer via an official club press release from Manchester City this afternoon.

It has been reported that MacIver has signed a three-year deal with Manchester City. She will challenge Ellie Roebuck for the first choice goalkeeping jersey at The Academy Stadium. MacIver previously represented The Cityzens in her youth before moving to the United States to study.

MacIver has spent the last two-and-a-half years with Everton. Her good performances for The Blue Girls have left the keeper on the fringes of the England squad while she was named in the Team GB squad for last year’s Olympic games in Tokyo. The player will now be looking to push on both at club and international levels in her time at Manchester City.

After joining The Cityzens, MacIver said “I’m really happy to be back here, this time as a professional player – Manchester City is a world class club across the board, and I’m very much looking forward to being a part of that.

“I feel like it’s really important at this time in my career to take my game to the next level and being able to train and learn from the world-class players and coaches here will help me to do that.

“It’s a really ambitious club who aspire to win trophies on a regular basis, and that’s something I’m excited to be involved in over the coming seasons.”

MacIver becomes Manchester City head coach Gareth Taylor’s fifth addition of the summer.
