Manchester City are reportedly set to complete a club-record deal for Atlético Madrid midfielder Rodri next week.
Rodri enjoyed a standout 2018/19 campaign, where he made 43 appearances across all competitions under Diego Simeone.
According to ESPNFC, City will trigger his €70m release clause after Atléti refused to negotiate a reduction.
This figure surpasses the €65m they paid to sign Riyad Mahrez from Leicester last summer.
Pep Guardiola views the 22-year-old as a successor to Fernandinho, after moves for Jorginho and Tanguy Ndombele failed to materialise.
Bayern Munich also expressed an interest but were unsuccessful in their attempts to persuade the player.
