According to Manchester Evening News, Manchester City have reportedly set an £84million asking price for Bernardo Silva, stating that any suitors, including Barcelona, would have to pay that fee if they wish to acquire his services. It is understood that Barcelona want the Portuguese sensation despite their financial concerns, although it is yet to be seen if the Catalan club make an offer before the transfer window closes.

Silva’s Campaign For Manchester City Last Season

Silva had a solid campaign last season when he managed to produce some master-class displays as the Sky Blues went on to win their fourth title in the last five years. He appeared in over 50 matches for Man City last season as he banged in 13 goals and created seven assists across all competitions.

Should Guardiola Pursue Him To Stay At The Etihad?

As speculation about the Portugal international continues to mount, the Citizens get anxious over concerns about his exit from the Etihad. Silva has performed relentlessly over the past few years to establish himself as a key man in Guardiola’s midfield department.

The midfielders play an important role in Guardiola’s tactics as we’ve seen with Barcelona and then with Bayern Munich, and now in Manchester City. The level of passing and the ability to hold on to the ball, the art of transitioning the attack and falling back when on defence demands a great player to perform at his highest level every week. Silva proved himself and showed his calibre by putting in impressive performances every week, and there is no other man that can roam the final third and still be composed and aware of his surroundings like him.

Pep Guardiola has never stopped his players from leaving his club if they feel they could achieve something more by making an exit.
