Barcelona attacker Ousmane Dembele could potentially be playing in the Premier League next season as his agent has reportedly had discussions with Manchester City.

Dembele moved to the Catalan giants in 2017, but it hasn’t quite gone as he would have hoped it to go.

As per El Desmarque, Dembele’s agent has spoken with several big clubs in Europe, including Manchester City, over a potential summer move for his client.

The likes of Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain are also reportedly interested in him. The French winger is no longer needed at the Catalan club and Barcelona are willing to sell him at a loss in the summer having signed him for €105 million from Borussia Dortmund.

Manchester City are reportedly willing to pay €95 million for the attacker. His contract with Barcelona expires in 2022, but it looks unlikely that he will stay so long at the club.

Is Dembele the freshness Manchester City’s attack needs?

Dembele is a supremely talented young player, who has achieved quite a lot at the age of 22. He was part of the World Cup-winning France squad, while also winning two La Liga titles with Barcelona.

A fast, skillful, and technically gifted player, Dembele can play on either wing and is strong with both feet.

He is a player that can wow fans with his dribbling and pace, but can also be infuriating as he is not consistent enough. His off-field issues have also been a worry for Barcelona.

But, he possesses phenomenal talent that could be harnessed under a world-class manager like Pep Guardiola. City may perhaps need an X-Factor player in their side as they seem to, at times, lack the spark to grab a game by the scruff of the neck.

With Raheem Sterling firmly establishing himself as a world-class player in the City team, Dembele could also reach the England international’s level under Guardiola.

City may need a new winger as the future of Leroy Sane is up in the air after he was linked with a move to Bayern Munich earlier this season.

If Sane does leave, signing Dembele to replace would make sense as they could pay a huge chunk of the transfer fee from the German’s sale.
