Manchester City could renew transfer interest in RB Leipzig and Spain star Dani Olmo ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.
The 25-year-old could become the latest RB Leipzig player to complete a move from the Red Bull Arena to the Etihad Stadium, following in the footsteps of centre-back Josko Gvardiol, who scored his first Manchester City goal in midweek after a £77.6 million transfer last summer.
The defender is one of several members of Pep Guardiola’s first-team squad to have swapped the Bundesliga for the Premier League champions, with Erling Haaland, Manuel Akanji and Stefan Ortega having also recently swapped Germany for North West England.
Manchester City could renew interest in a number of previous transfer targets this summer, with West Ham United midfielder Lucas Paqueta potentially set to swap the London Stadium for the Sky Blues in an £85 million move, dependent on the outcome of a current FIFA and FA investigation.
Etihad chiefs could reportedly also return for RB Leipzig’s Dani Olmo ahead of the 2024/25 campaign, with the versatile Spain forward having a €60 million release clause this summer.
The Spaniard signed a new contract with RB Leipzig until 2027 last June, and has been directly involved in six goals in 17 Bundesliga appearances so far this season.
Olmo has featured in three UEFA Champions League matches, but missed both meetings with Manchester City in the Group Stages.
Sport Witness relay a report from German outlet Bild, who claim that Olmo favours a move to the Etihad Stadium amid interest from a series of other Premier League clubs, including Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham.
Pep Guardiola’s side are reportedly currently the ‘hottest lead’ for the 25-year-old, who’s hopes of a potential move to Barcelona have been dashed as a result of the Catalan club’s continued financial woes.
Manchester City’s squad reinforcements could come from the Bundesliga during the off-season, with Bayern Munich pair Jamal Musiala and Joshua Kimmich both mooted, alongside Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz.
