Premier League champions Manchester City are ready to sanction the sale of Joao Cancelo this summer, it has been reported.

The Portugal international left the Etihad Stadium back in January, securing a six-month loan deal with the Bundesliga champions until the end of the ongoing season, as he sought out improved game-time in the second-half of the campaign.

However, things were far from plain sailing for Cancelo at the Allianz Arena, as a managerial change from Julian Nagelsmann to Thomas Tuchel failed to do him any favours, and Bayern Munich officials making their stance on the player very clear in recent days.

Despite the German giants holding the option to sign the player on a permanent deal this summer for a fee set at €70 million by Manchester City, it is understood that Bayern Munich have no intention of triggering such a clause.

As such, according to information reported by the ever-reliable Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City have still opted to sell Joao Cancelo during the upcoming summer transfer window, with a number of clubs waiting in the wings.

Premier League title challengers Arsenal ‘appreciate’ the skillset offered by the Portuguese full-back, and have the Manchester City star on their transfer shortlist, while Barcelona have had a ‘genuine interest’ in the player since January.

Unfortunately for their hopes at Camp Nou, the recently-crowned La Liga champions are holding out on a positive stance regarding FFP when it comes to their summer transfer window flexibility.

While Manchester City are open to selling the former Juventus and Inter full-back, those within the Etihad Stadium have little intent to invest in his position, as they remain very content with their current options and flexibility in defence.

Nathan Ake and Manuel Akanji have both operated at left-back during the ongoing season, while all of Rico Lewis, Kyle Walker, and John Stones have filled in at right-back to great success at different stages of the campaign.
