Manchester City reach agreement to sign Matheus Nunes from Wolves | OneFootball

As per Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City have reached an agreement with Wolves to sign Matheus Nunes.

The two sides are said to have reached a verbal agreement with one another, and the midfielder is already on his way to the Premier League champions.

Although the exact fee of the deal is not definitely known, it is expected to be in excess of €60m, which Romano reported that City had bid a few days ago. Meanwhile, it is understood that City academy graduate Tommy Doyle will go the other way in the deal, joining Wolves for £5m plus a 50% sell-on clause for The Citizens.

Final checks on the payment terms and instalments are now ongoing, and then the deal will be signed, with Nunes already having agreed personal terms weeks ago.

As they look to fill the void that has been left in their midfield by Kevin De Bruyne- who is set to be out with injury for 3-4 months– The treble winners have been pushing to sign the Portuguese international for a while and already seen multiple bids rejected by their Premier League counterparts- whilst the player himself recently stopped training with The Wanderers in an attempt to push for a move to Pep Guardiola’s side.

The Spanish manager’s interest in the 24-year-old comes after he stood out in a struggling Wolves side under multiple managers last season, where he featured in 34 Premier League games after signing from Sporting CP for €45m last summer. In these appearances- and throughout his 101 appearances for Sporting- Nunes has caught the eye by consistently demonstrating his excellent ball carrying and dribbling ability, as he is able make powerful, driving runs with the ball at his feet through the centre of his opposition.

This move will see City secure their fourth signing of the summer just days before the window closes, having already brought in Mateo Kovačić from Chelsea, Jérémy Doku for €60m from Stade Rennes, and Joško Gvardiol from RB Leipzig for €90m- a fee which sees the 21-year-old become the most expensive defender in world football.
