Manchester City provide update on Aymeric Laporte injury

Manchester City have confirmed Aymeric Laporte has undergone surgery on his knee.

The defender was injured during Saturday’s defeat of Brighton and is now expected to be missing long-term.

Laporte damaged his cartilage and lateral meniscus in the collision that forced him off.

The Frenchman was replaced in the team by Fernandinho, who is now likely to fill in at centre-back.
