The World Cup continues again today after a couple of days off and it’s the start of the quarter final matches.

There is still a heavy Chelsea involvement in the competition, with Mateo Kovacic for Croatia, taking on Thiago Silva for Brazil today.

Then tomorrow, England are back in action in their quarter final match against France. Mason Mount will be hoping to get a start, or at least some real game time off the bench, and Raheem Sterling will also be rejoining the squad after his ordeal this week with his house being burgled.

Sterling is unlikely to come right back in to a starting role, with others doing well in his absence. But that hasn’t stopped Manchester City and England midfielder Kalvin Phillips saying that Sterling’s return is a ‘massive lift’ for the squad.

Phillips goes on to call Sterling ‘an amazing player’ in his press conference yesterday, as reported by The Chelsea Chronicle.

“A massive lift,” Phillips said on Sterling’s return. “Raheem’s an amazing player and obviously had to fly home with what’s gone on and we’re just happy that everything’s alright and he can rejoin us, and play a big part in the next game, which we’re looking forward to.”
