Tijjani Reijnders has bid farewell to his teammates at AC Milan as Manchester City pursue the signing of the midfielder this summer, as per a new report.

Reijnders features high on Manchester City’s wishlist to bolster their midfield ranks ahead of the 2025-26 campaign and is seen as an ideal candidate to operate in the number six and eight positions in Guardiola’s midfield.

Manchester City are eyeing four to five additions to Guardiola’s squad after a disappointing 2024-25 campaign and are expected to launch an official bid for Reijnders in the coming weeks after reportedly agreeing personal terms with the Netherlands international.

Reijnders is understood to be excited by the prospect of joining forces with Guardiola at the Etihad Stadium as Manchester City arm their manager to build a new squad and challenge on all fronts next season.

It was reported this week that Reijnders has cancelled a holiday the midfielder had planned for his family in Ibiza for the beginning of July to complete a move to Manchester City, who want the 26-year-old to be part of their travelling squad to the United States for the FIFA Club World Cup.

Kalvin Phillips is likely to be sold on a permanent basis ahead of the 2025-26 campaign and that opens up space for a new addition in the midfield ranks for City, who have bid farewell to Kevin De Bruyne and could also witness Bernardo Silva leave.

Nico Gonzalez was signed in January and has made a good first impression in the opening five months of his Manchester City career, with the Spaniard also seeing his compatriot and Ballon d’Or holder Rodri return to action against Bournemouth last week after a lengthy layoff wherein he was recovering from an ACL injury.

As reported by Carlo Pellegatti via his YouTube channel, whose comments have been relayed by SempreMilan, Tijjani Reijnders has already bid farewell to his AC Milan teammates when the squad were let go for the summer holidays.

There is a feeling at the Italian club that Reijnders has said a permanent goodbye to his current teammates as his move to Manchester City nears, with the Blues ready to make their opening bid for the midfielder and make him their first summer signing.

“I heard that Reijnders said goodbye to his teammates,” Pellegatti said, as quoted by Milan News. “Of course, you can also say goodbye to wish them a good holiday.

“But the general impression (is that) he (Reijnders) said goodbye to everyone at Milanello, he said goodbye to his teammates – it didn’t seem like the greeting of a player going on holiday.”
