It now seems to be only a matter of time before Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Ait-Nouri become Manchester City players. All that is left is for the two players to complete their medicals and the two players to be officially announced as City players. Now Simon Mullock has reported for the Mirror that Manchester City and Lyon are edging closer to an agreement that will see Rayan Cherki sign for Pep Guardiola’s side. It now looks as if there will be three new signings joining Manchester City’s squad for the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup.

Manchester City is getting close to agreeing on a transfer fee with Lyon to sign Rayan Cherki.

Simon Mullock has reported for the Mirror that Manchester City is on the verge of completing a triple swoop in the transfer market. AC Milan midfielder Tijjani Reijnders, Wolverhampton Wanderers left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri and Lyon playmaker Rayan Cherki will all imminently join Pep Guardiola’s squad. The news that stands out in Mullock’s report is that City are expected to sign Rayan Cherki from Lyon for a transfer fee of around £35 million. Furthermore, Mullock reports that Cherki is expected to complete a medical ahead of his move to the Etihad in the coming days.

Manchester City’s rebuild is beginning to take shape.

Manchester City began the rebuild of their squad in January. Omar Marmoush, Nico, Abdukodur Khusanov, Vitor Reis, and Juma Bah all figure to be a prominent part of City’s future. But entering the summer, there was still work to do for the City hierarchy. They have quickly gotten about that work, and the results are becoming clear to see.

Rayan Cherki, Rayan Ait-Nouri, and Tijjani Reijnders are all potentially strong additions to Pep Guardiola’s squad. Each player adds what Manchester City’s squad lacks. Reijnders brings goals from midfield and tremendous technical ability. He can also get around the pitch well. That should make him a quality addition to Manchester City’s squad. Rayan Ait-Nouri is a technically gifted player and is a weapon going forward from left-back. His ability to get overlap or invert as a full-back will be a welcome addition to Pep Guardiola’s squad. Rayan Cherki will add the creativity to Manchester City’s play that they have so desperately lacked. He isn’t a like-for-like replacement for Kevin De Bruyne. But Cherki will add game breaking dribbling and passing to Manchester City’s play.

It seems that Manchester City is on the verge of a triple swoop in the transfer market. All that seemingly awaits is official confirmation of the signings of Reijnders, Ait-Nouri, and Cherki. That will hopefully come in the coming days. If it does, all three players should play in the FIFA Club World Cup. That adds an interesting layer to the tournament in the United States from a City point of view if all three deals are completed as expected
