Manchester City and Pep Guardiola have been hit with another midfield injury concern ahead of Wednesday’s UEFA Super Cup Final against Sevilla.

The treble-winners will be without three first-team stars for the Super Cup clash in Athens in midweek, where Manchester City are bidding to win their first trophy of the new campaign.

Manchester City, who won the Champions League for the first time in June, face Europa League winners Sevilla at the Stadio Georgios Karaiskakis in Athens, Greece, on Wednesday evening.

The Sky Blues’ continental triumph has offered Pep Guardiola the chance to compete in an additional two competitions this season, with six trophies on offer to Manchester City over the course of the campaign.

City beat the La Liga side on both occasions in the Champions League Group Stages last season, winning 4-0 in Spain and 3-1 at the Etihad Stadium.

Manchester City, who lost the FA Community Shield earlier this month, will be hoping to beat Sevilla and win the UEFA Super Cup on Wednesday evening, but will be without three key players for the clash in Greece.

In a fresh injury blow to the Blues, Bernardo Silva hasn’t travelled with the Manchester City squad despite featuring against Burnley in the Premier League on Friday night.

The 29-year-old is reported to have ‘felt some pain’ at the end of the win at Turf Moor, where Manchester City beat Vincent Kompany’s side 3-0 – courtesy of an Erling Haaland brace and second-half Rodri strike.

Silva’s ‘slight injury’ will force the Portugal international to miss the Super Cup Final, according to Alexis Bernard of Le10Sport.

Manchester City have confirmed the absence of the midfielder, although journalist Jack Gaughan reports that the player is ‘unwell’.

Guardiola will also be without Kevin De Bruyne, who is facing a potentially lengthy period on the sidelines after suffering another hamstring injury.

The Belgian, who was forced off during the Champions League Final due to a hamstring tear, suffered a suspected recurrence of the problem against Burnley.

Ruben Dias also remains sidelined after suffering a head injury in training last week.
