Ahead of the Champions League final between Inter and Manchester City, world-class striker Erling Haaland provided his thoughts on the highly anticipated fixture.

Since joining the Blue of Manchester from German outfits Borussia Dortmund, the Norwegian international has taken the English league by storm, scoring 52 goals across all competitions, helping City clinch both the Premier League and the FA Cup.

With Manchester City on the verge of attaining their first ever treble, Guardiola’s side arrive in Istanbul with a great deal of confidence.

However, Haaland notes while speaking to the media in an exclusive interview, as relayed by FcInter1908, that overcoming Inter will be a difficult challenge and that the Nerazzurri are not a side to underestimate:

Erling, ready for the final?

“Yes, I want to live in the moment, without looking too far forward or too far back. I just think about what’s going to happen.”

What do you think of your opponents?

“I don’t like to talk a lot about my rivals: I prefer to focus on myself and my team. We face a strong team that will make life difficult for us: we have to play at the top to win”.

Lukaku recently said she can dominate for the next 10 years. Is he right?

“They were nice words from him, I appreciated them. But I’m only thinking about the next game.”

You said that Manchester City took it to win the Champions League: do you feel any extra responsibility for this?

“I’d be lying if I said I don’t feel the pressure, of course I do. And then it’s true: they had won the Premier League 4 times in 5 years before I arrived, they had won practically everything: it is clear that they already know how to do it. The only thing missing is the Champions League, so it’s clear that I’m here to help win it, to try to do something the club has never done before: I’ll do my best, because succeeding would mean everything to me.”

You come to this final without a goal in 4 matches, having only scored once in the last 7. How do you feel?

“A goal in the last 7 games is just one way of looking at it. The other is 52 goals and 9 assists in 52 games. It works both ways. And I feel great.”

What impact has Guardiola had on you?

“Huge. He is obsessed with details and I really enjoy working with him. He asks everyone to keep improving and always finds the right thing to tell you or make you do”.

52 goals in 52 games so far this year. Is it possible to do better?

“Yes, I’m still young and I can grow a lot. And this is the perfect place to do it, working with the best coaches and the best players in the world. There are always many ways to improve.”
