Following victory over Leyton Orient on Saturday afternoon, Manchester City’s next challenge in this season’s FA Cup has now been revealed.
Pep Guardiola and his Manchester City players put on a goalscoring feast for their home supporters in round three of the latest pursuit of Wembley glory as they dismissed of League Two side Salford City via an 8-0 scoreline last month.
The fourth round then brought a clash against a team one league above Salford as a trip to Brisbane Road saw Manchester City come from behind to defeat Leyton Orient thanks to goals from Abdukodir Khusanov and Kevin De Bruyne.
Despite the glories of Saturday afternoon, attentions have immediately become fixated on a mammoth challenge against Real Madrid on Tuesday night in the first-leg of a mouthwatering last-16 play-off clash between the two sides in the UEFA Champions League.
And beyond this week, in the next round of the FA Cup, Monday evening’s completed draw as outlined Manchester City’s next challenge as they look to bring some success in a difficult season for the club across competitions.
As City look to make it all the way to the FA Cup final once again, it has been confirmed that Pep Guardiola and his players will take on Plymouth Argyle in the fifth round of the competition!
Preston North End vs Burnley
Aston Villa vs Cardiff City
Doncaster Rovers or Crystal Palace vs Millwall
Manchester United vs Fulham
Newcastle United vs Brighton & Hove Albion
AFC Bournemouth vs Wolverhampton Wanderers
Manchester City vs Plymouth Argyle
Exeter City or Nottingham Forest vs Ipswich Town
Matches in the FA Cup fifth round will take place across the weekend of Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd March 2025.
For Manchester City, that would mean the fifth round tie in this season’s FA Cup follows an away trip to Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Wednesday 26 February and precedes a clash with Nottingham Forest away from home on Saturday 8 March.
Should Manchester City defeat Real Madrid in a UEFA Champions League last-16 play-off tie this month, then a round of 16 first-leg clash would follow the FA Cup fifth round tie against Plymouth Argyle on Tuesday 4th or Wednesday 5th March.
