Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City have now discovered their fate in the Emirates FA Cup fifth round, following the draw which took place on Monday night.
City have now knocked-out Premier League giants in both the third round and fourth round of this year’s tournament, with a 4-0 win against Chelsea early in January preceding a 1-0 win over top-flight title challengers Arsenal last week.
A single second-half goal from versatile defender Nathan Ake booked Manchester City’s place in the fifth round of the competition, with the Dutchman slotting home a Jack Grealish assist to perfection via his unfavored right-foot.
That one-goal margin was enough to move past Mikel Arteta’s impressive Arsenal side, in what some are anticipating could be a significant psychological advantage for Manchester City heading into two crunch Premier League clashes against the Gunners later this season.
After the game, the Emirates FA Cup fifth round draw was completed with Manchester City now knowing that they will face Bristol City in the next round of the competition, away from home.
