Manchester City may cancel plans to hold an open-top bus parade next week, with manager Pep Guardiola set to make the defining decision.

The Sky Blues secured their second trophy of the campaign at Wembley Stadium on Saturday, winning the FA Cup for the first time since 2019 with a joyous 2-1 victory over local rivals Manchester United.

Ilkay Gundogan scored twice to secure a momentous victory, as Manchester City were triumphant in the first Manchester Derby FA Cup Final in the competitions history.

The German scored inside 12 seconds with a stunning volley, before restoring the Blues’ lead in the 51st minute with a strike from outside the area, after a Bruno Fernandes penalty had drawn Manchester United level.

The FA Cup win came just weeks after Manchester City secured their third successive Premier League title, as Arsenal faltered in the latter stages of the title race.

City were crowned champions for the fifth time in six years when the Gunners lost 1-0 to Nottingham Forest, with Mikel Arteta’s side also suffering a thumping defeat to Brighton at the Emirates Stadium the week before.

An impressive 11-game winning streak helped the Blues win their latest Premier League title, with Erling Haaland concluding the campaign with an incredible 36 goals in 35 appearances.

Despite claiming the double of the Premier League and FA Cup, the Daily Mail report that Manchester City could cancel plans to hold an open-top bus parade in Manchester city centre if they don’t beat Inter Milan.

Manchester City could complete the treble next weekend, with a UEFA Champions League Final against Inter Milan in Istanbul being the Blues’ final game of the campaign.

City could become the first team since Manchester United in 1999 to win the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League in the same season.

According to Matt Hughes, City have pencilled in Monday 12th June to hold a parade, however any celebrations won’t be confirmed until after Saturday’s Champions League Final.

Pep Guardiola will have the final decision on whether a parade will take place, with the potential for the Catalan to allow the squad to go straight on holiday, should the Blues lose in Istanbul.

Manchester City held an open-top bus parade last summer, after winning the Premier League title on the final day of the season against Aston Villa at the Etihad Stadium.
