Manchester City appear certain to strengthen both their midfield and full-back positions this summer. Those are two areas of Pep Guardiola’s squad that could do with strengthening. Now a new report indicates that City could launch a double raid on AC Milan to sign midfielder Tijjani Reijnders and left-back Theo Hernandez. A move for both players would fill two gaps in the City squad and help them quickly regenerate Pep Guardiola’s side.

Rudy Galetti has reported for TeamTalk that Manchester City have an interest in signing Tijjani Reijnders and Theo Hernandez. Furthermore, Galetti reports that City are hoping to complete both deals together to make it a cheaper transaction. Galetti adds that AC Milan may need to raise funds this summer if they fail to qualify for next season’s Champions League. Lastly, Galetti reports that AC Milan has set an asking price of €70 million to sell Reijnders. The Rossoneri would demand at least €30 million to sell Hernandez as per Galetti’s report.

If Manchester City could sign both Tijjani Reijnders and Theo Hernandez, they’d immediately bolster Pep Guardiola’s squad. Reijnders looms as a player who would add exactly what Manchester City’s midfield needs. He is a goal threat from midfield and can pick out and play an incisive pass. Both attributes would be of great value to Pep Guardiola’s side. Theo Hernandez could provide cover at left-back for Josko Gvardiol, or he could become City’s first-choice left-back if Gvardiol moved to centre-back. Hernandez is a threat going forward with his ability to make overlapping runs from the left-back position. His delivery in the final third is a weapon in his game and he is sound defensively.

Summary.

A busy summer awaits Manchester City. Based on Rudy Galetti’s report, it appears that City are making moves to strengthen their squad which is a wise move. Especially when you consider that Manchester City could be in the market for 4 or 5 players this summer. Tijjani Reijnders and Theo Hernandez would improve Manchester City’s squad so City’s reported interest in them is now a story to watch for over the coming weeks.
