Manchester City complete the signing of Spanish international defender Ouahabi | OneFootball

Manchester City have completed the signing of Spanish international defender Leila Ouahabi on a two-year deal.

FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from Manchester City this morning.

Ouahabi will officially join Manchester City on 1 July when her contract with Spanish giants FC Barcelona comes to an end. The player has won 17 trophies in two spells with the Catalan club including five league titles and the 2020/2021 UEFA Women’s Champions League. Ouahabi was a UEFA Women’s Champions League runner-up with Barcelona last month as they went down 3-1 to Lyon in the final.

On the international stage, Ouahabi has been capped by Spain on 47 occasions at senior level while she has scored one goal.

After completing her move to Manchester City, Ouahabi said “I am very happy. I was looking forward to this moment and I am really happy now it is all done.

“Manchester City have always been a team that caught my eye. I like their style of football so much and the DNA of the Club is very exciting.

“This is going to be a completely different experience for me, and I’m really looking forward to it. I want to continue enjoying my football and City are a strong Club. Both personally and professionally, I think I will grow and develop here.

“I also want to keep winning trophies. I like winning and being competitive, and I am coming here to win trophies for City.”

Ouahabi joins Venezuelan attacker Deyna Castellanos in joining Manchester City in the summer transfer window.
