Manchester City complete signing of Norwegian international midfielder Blakstad
FAWSL Full-Time
The 20-year-old is the first Transfer Deadline Day signing in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League and she is believed to be the only player set to arrive at The Academy Stadium today. FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official Manchester City press release this afternoon.
Blakstad’s move to Manchester City will see her play overseas for the first time in her career. The player has previously represented Ottestad IL, FL Fart and Rosenborg BK in her native Norway. The youngster has played UEFA Women’s Champions League football this season for the latter.
On the international stage, Blakstad has 11 senior appearances to her name for Norway while she has scored two goals.
After sealing her move to Manchester City, Blakstad said “It’s amazing to be a Manchester City player and I can’t wait to get started.
“Everybody has been amazing so far, and I’m so excited to meet my teammates. At this point in my career, it’s important to take a new step to develop myself further and I believe this is the best place for me to do that
“You only have to look at the club – the facilities, the staff and the players all have incredible dedication to achieve something big and I really want to be a part of that.”
Blakstad has been handed the number 41 shirt by Manchester City. It is unknown whether the player will be available for selection for the Vitality Women’s FA Cup fourth round tie at Nottingham Forest this weekend as international clearance may still be required.
