Premier League champions Manchester City are closing in on the signing of a rising talent from within the English football pyramid, according to reports.

Officials within the Etihad Stadium are often proactive when it comes to recruiting the very best young talents from across the globe, and as a direct result have seen many players nurtured through their system go on to make excellent top-level careers for themselves.

In the Premier League alone, Manchester City are now watching on with immense pride as the likes of Liam Delap, Morgan Rogers, and Cole Palmer are excelling with Ipswich Town, Aston Villa, and Chelsea respectively.

But City are never satisfied, and as the club prepare to welcome Claudio Echeverri from River Plate in the New Year having penned an agreement to recruit the Argentina youth international last January, they are now seemingly closing in on another name.

That is according to the information of transfer market insider Fabrizio Romano, who has revealed that Manchester City are now closing in on a deal for Leyton Orient’s highly-rated under-16 talent, Teddie Lamb.

It is detailed that the youngster is set to make the switch to the Etihad Stadium with an agreement now done, with Manchester City’s club philosophy still to develop young Academy players for the future.

Information around the player is relatively unknown at this stage but the mere fact that his talents have been recognised by Manchester City is an excellent reflection of his talents and future prospects.

It also remains to be seen how City see the teenager fitting into their existing Academy system, with the most likely possibility being an integration into their under-18 squad and operating across the FA Youth Cup and Premier League U18 tournaments in particular.
