In a recent edition of the Daily Briefing, journalist Fabrizio Romano stated that Manchester City are still keen on signing West Ham United star Lucas Paqueta. Romano said,

“Manchester City still have an interest in Paqueta, he’s a player they appreciate, while the Brazilian midfielder would obviously also be super keen on the move. Paqueta was already keen on joining City last summer, but the crucial story is the betting allegations against him.

“City are waiting to see what happens with that story as they like the player, so let’s see what materialises there and how it affects a potential saga this summer.”

Paqueta is enjoying another impressive campaign at the East London club after putting in a string of influential displays for them in the final third. The Brazilian talent has netted eight goals and picked up seven assists in 38 matches for West Ham this season across various competitions.

The 26-year-old has proven his worth in the opponent’s half by averaging 1.5 shots, 1.5 key passes and 1.5 dribbles per game in Premier League football. He has even been tidy when interchanging possession with his teammates after making 75.3% of his attempted passes in the English first division (stats via whoscored).

What Will Paqueta Bring To Manchester City?

Paqueta can make a few driving runs with the ball in and around the opponent’s penalty area and has got the eye to create some inviting chances for his teammates to find the back of the net. He can even shoot the ball with power and precision from long range.

The Brazil international is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also function as a box-to-box midfielder or as a left-winger if needed. We can expect Paqueta to bring more quality to Man City head coach Pep Guardiola‘s attack.
