For Manchester City, the January transfer window is looming as a pivotal period in City’s season. Pep Guardiola’s side is in desperate need of fresh faces to revitalise their 24/25 campaign. The Premier League champions have been linked with a host of players recently. Now a new report indicates that City could be plotting a move for Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala. It is also reported that a host of clubs are plotting a January move for Musiala. But in my opinion, the chances of Musiala leaving Bayern in January range from slim to none.
Jason Pettigrove has reported for CaughtOffside that Manchester City are one of a host of clubs considering a January move for Jamal Musiala. Pettigrove adds that PSG, Liverpool and Real Madrid are also monitoring the Bayern Munich star. It is also included in Pettigrove’s report that Jamal Musiala’s contract situation has caught the eye of several of Europe’s biggest clubs. Furthermore, Pettigrove goes on to report that Bayern Munich would ask for between €170-180 million to sell Musiala. Lastly, Pettigrove adds that Manchester City do see Musiala as a potential replacement for Kevin De Bruyne.
It isn’t a surprise to see Manchester City continually linked with a potential move for Jamal Musiala. The German international is one of the premier young players in world football. His current contract situation does mean that Musiala will continue to be the subject of transfer speculation. As Pettigrove reports Bayern Munich are desperate to tie down Musiala on a lucrative contract extension. But so far they have been unable to do so.
But there would appear to be little or no chance of Bayern Munich selling one of their best players in January. Musiala is crucial to their push to win the Bundesliga and go deep in the Champions League. As much as Manchester City, PSG, Liverpool and Real Madrid would like to sign Musiala in January it just appears unlikely. It is likely a move that Manchester City or any other club will pursue in the summer. If Musiala hasn’t signed a new deal with Bayern by the end of the season then it could set up a host of clubs for a run at signing the German international.
It is no surprise to see Manchester City linked once again with a move for Jamal Musiala. He is the ideal player to come in and bolster Pep Guardiola’s squad. But it’s a move that is more likely to occur in the summer if it does happen rather than next month.
