In a recent report, The Daily Star mentioned that Manchester City are confident about recruiting Boca Juniors youngster Valentin Barco. It has been claimed that the Mancunian club are optimistic about their chances of signing the Argentine left-back next year.
Barco has come through the youth ranks of Boca Juniors before establishing himself as a decent performer for their senior team. The 19-year-old has already made 21 appearances for the Argentine club thus far, netting one goal and picking up a couple of assists in all competitions.
The talented teenager caught the eye at both ends of the field based on his average of 1.7 tackles, 0.7 interceptions, 0.6 shots, 0.5 key passes and 2.3 dribbles per 90 minutes in Liga Profesional. He was even accurate with his ball distribution after completing 82% of his attempted passes in the top tier of Argentine football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the Argentine club will expire at the end of 2024. Thus, it makes sense for Man City to arrange a cut-price move for him next year.

Banco is a solid tackler of the ball and can make some important interceptions for his team inside his half. He can strike the ball with venom from long-range and can make a handful of driving runs with the ball on the left flank.
The Argentine full-back has also got the vision to engineer some decent chances for his teammates up top. At 19, he has the potential to become a future star at the highest level.
Therefore, Banco would be a great, long-term addition to Pep Guardiola‘s team. He is already good enough to serve as a rotational piece in Man City‘s squad next season. Furthermore, Banco is undeniably a prospect to watch out for in the coming years, so he should follow in the footsteps of his countryman, Julian Alvarez by sealing a big move to the Etihad Stadium in the future.
the Mancunian club over the next decade.
