With Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola’s sides set to do battle on the pitch this weekend, a new report has detailed an off-field challenge between the two clubs set for the summer.

Liverpool and Manchester City go head-to-head on Sunday afternoon knowing that victory for either team would move them to the top of the Premier League table in a hotly-contested title race also featuring Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.

But with all clubs looking to maintain their positions at the very top of English football, transfer plans for the upcoming market and into next season are well underway, with a new report linking both Liverpool and City with a high-profile move within the Premier League.

That concerns their attacking positions, with Manchester City looking to strengthen their wider roles and Liverpool also looking to ensure that their post-Jurgen Klopp era remains as strong as it is with the German in charge.

According to the information of The Telegraph’s Mike McGrath, both Manchester City and Liverpool are ‘admirers’ of Wolves forward Pedro Neto ahead of the summer transfer market, when the Portugal international could be made available for sale.

With Neto reportedly expected to be subject of ‘intense interest’ from ‘several’ Premier League clubs, it is further claimed that the 24-year-old’s Molineux price tag is expected to be set at upwards of £60 million.

While Liverpool are among the clubs watching the highly-rated forward, who is also on the radar of others looking to bolster their attack, the Telegraph report that at Manchester City he is ‘rated highly by the scouting team’.

City have already secured themselves one piece of business for their wider attacking roles, through the form of a transfer within the City Football Group, having agreed a deal for rising Brazilian talent Savio from ESTAC Troyes.

The teenage winger has been excelling while on-loan at La Liga high-flyers Girona this season, and Manchester City have capitalised on their connections to the player’s French employers by taking control of the forward’s future.

City have existing strong relations with Wolverhampton Wanderers following on from the previous summer transfer window, having worked closely with Molineux officials over the transfer of Matheus Nunes to the Etihad Stadium on deadline day.
