Lyon’s Rayan Cherki is expected to finalise a move to Manchester City ahead of Tuesday’s deadline for the FIFA Club World Cup, it is being reported.

The Frenchman could become the third deal agreed involving Manchester City in successive days after club officials have moved with intent over the course of the week to secure agreements over two pending transfers.

Tijjani Reijnders saw his future secured on Wednesday as Etihad Stadium bosses agreed to an initial €55 million transfer for the Netherlands international with AC Milan, and the versatile midfielder is expected to finalise his switch via a medical on Sunday.

Thursday then saw a deal arranged with fellow Premier League outfit Wolves over Rayan Ait-Nouri, as the Algerian prepares to undergo his own medical to finalise a deal understood to be worth an initial £33.7 million.

And now, with Manchester City on the verge of returning to training from Monday ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup, a third negotiation appears to have concluded with a positive outcome for the likes of Hugo Viana and Txiki Begiristain.

That is according to the information of The Mirror’s Simon Mullock, who is reporting that Manchester City have now agreed terms over a deal for Lyon’s 21-year-old attacking midfielder Rayan Cherki.

It is detailed that the France international is expected to arrive at the Etihad Stadium in a deal worth around £35 million, and is due to undergo a medical test alongside his new club in the coming days.

This is a developing story. More to follow.
