We asked ‘Matt Busby said to Joe Harvey’ to give us his match ratings and player comments after Manchester City 4 Newcastle 0.
That was shocking.
Too many sub-optimal performances.
You just knew that Egyptian fella was gonna score against us…but a hat-trick? For goodness sake!
Eddie got his tactics wrong, but whatever the formation, you need eleven willing accomplices and he didn’t have that today.
Dubravka – 3
Had to do better with all three goals in the first half.
Shocking positioning once again.
When will Pope be back as number one?
It can’t be soon enough for me.
Trippier – 3
Got caught out for that first one and allowed Marmoush too much time with the second.
Hardly surprising that he was subbed off at the interval.
Schar – 4
Not at the races.
Showing an ongoing, continuous and worrying trend of performing below par.
Burn – 6
Some good challenges and interceptions, it could have been a lot worse without BDB at the heart of the defence
Hall – 4
Couldn’t live with Savinho.
Brutally exposed for their third.
Guimaraes – 5
On days like this, you at least want want your talisman to shine. He didn’t.
Tonali – 5
Was going to score him higher than Bruno but losing McAtee for the fourth has cost him a point.
Willock – 3
Too lightweight and either knocked off the ball far too easily, or he simply gave it away.
Offered nothing in support of Lewis Hall who was having a torrid time.
Hardly surprising that he was subbed off at the interval.
Murphy – 4
A passenger.
Couldn’t get into the game, save for one quality cross early second half which no one had bothered to try and get on the end of.
Isak – 5
Made some decent runs in the first half but lacked any support.
Totally anonymous in the second.
Gordon – 5
Lacked any real spark but could consider himself unlucky with ridiculous flags from the linesman shortly before being subbed off.
Substitutes
Miley – 7
Probably the only one I would suggest gave a good account of himself today.
Must have been difficult coming on at 0-3 with his teammates going through the motions.
Has got to start ahead of Willock if big Joe is out for longer.
Livramento – 6
I thought he did okay and definitely a big improvement on who he replaced.
Longstaff – N/A
Not on long enough to assess.
Wilson – N/A
Not on long enough to assess.
Krafth – N/A
Not on long enough to assess.
