Here are the City player ratings as Manchester City beat West Ham 3-1 at the Etihad Stadium to claim a fourth consecutive Premier League title. The win sees Pep Guardiola’s side become the first team in English football history to claim four consecutive Premier League titles.

The game had barely begun when Phil Foden scored a thumping long-range strike to open the scoring in the second minute. It was a quality strike from Foden, and it instantly settled his team’s and Manchester City fans’ nerves. It appeared that it would be a case of City battering David Moyes’ side as they comprehensively dominated the opening 20 minutes.

Phil Foden would double City’s lead in the 18th minute after a sublime team goal. Jeremy Doku picked out Foden with a sublime cross for the England international to double City’s lead. It appeared that Pep Guardiola’s side would seal a fourth consecutive Premier League title in a canter.

But it wouldn’t be a title decider at the Etihad without some drama as West Ham got back into the game in the 42nd minute. A stunning overhead kick from Mohammed Kudus got David Moyes back into the game. It was a stunning goal and one where you just have to sit back and marvel at its beauty. Manchester City went into the interval with a 2-1 lead after dominating the first half.

The second half began with the world champions looking to put the result beyond doubt. It felt like Pep Guardiola’s side needed one more goal to settle affairs. The moment arrived in the 59th minute as Rodri stepped up and sealed the game with precise finish. It was always going to be Rodri to provide the match clinching moment.

The second half from that moment resembled a party atmosphere as Manchester City had done their job. At the final whistle, the party had begun as City became the first team to ever claim four consecutive Premier League titles.

Here are the City player ratings from a historic day at the Etihad Stadium.

City player ratings

Stefan Ortega-7/10: Ortega made one good save and could do little about the wonder goal from Mohammed Kudus.

Kyle Walker-7.5/10: One of Walker’s best games for some time. He was excellent for the entire game at right-back.

Ruben Dias-7/10: A solid display from Dias. It wasn’t a spectacular performance, but he did what was required on the day.

Manuel Akanji-7/10: The Swiss international did what he had to do before he was substituted. Other players will get the headlines this season, but Akanji’s been one of City’s most consistent players all season.

Josko Gvardiol-8/10: Another spectacular display from Gvardiol. The Croatian international was superb at left-back. His performance capped off his fine debut season at Manchester City.

Rodri-10/10: Rodri scored City’s third and dominated midfield. Phil Foden will get the headlines, but Rodri was immense.

Bernardo Silva-8/10: A fantastic performance on the right wing from Bernardo. He was a constant threat to West Ham’s defence in a polished display.

Kevin De Bruyne-8/10: Yesterday was one of De Bruyne’s best all-around performances for some time. He was outstanding, creating chances from midfield, and on another day could’ve scored one or two himself.

Phil Foden-10/10: Foden showed why he was voted the Premier League Player of the Season. He set the tone for City early as he dominated the game. His brace was spectacular, and his early goal settled his team’s and Manchester City’s fans’ nerves. A sublime performance.

Jeremy Doku-8.5/10: Eyebrows were raised when Doku was named in the starting eleven. He put in an electrifying performance to justify his selection.

Erling Haaland-6/10: It wasn’t Haaland’s day as his finishing was off. But he did what was required for his team to clinch a fourth consecutive Premier League title.

Substitutes

Nathan Ake-6/10: Did his job when he was introduced in the second half.

Mateo Kovacic-N/A: Not on long enough to mark.
