Manchester City 3 (Erling Haaland 25′, Tijjani Reijnders 59′,82′)

Palermo 0

Here are the City player ratings as Manchester City beat Palermo 3-nil in the Anglo-Palermitan Trophy overnight. The match took place at the picturesque Renzo Barbera Stadium. Goals from Erling Haaland and a brace from Tijjani Reijnders were enough for Pep Guardiola’s side to pick up a victory in their final friendly of their pre-season.

The City player ratings show that Pep Guardiola essentially played two starting elevens in Sicily. In my opinion, Rayan Cherki and Tijjani Reijnders were Manchester City’s standout performers during the match.

City player ratings

James Trafford-6/10: Started nervously in goal, especially with the ball at his feet. But overcame that and did what he had to do with minimal fuss.

Rico Lewis-7/10: A nice performance before being substituted.

Abdukodir Khusanov-7/10: Put in several strong challenges and should be a prominent player next season for Manchester City.

John Stones-7.5/10: Looked like the Stones of old. Drifted forward on occasions in possession and looked fit. If he stays fit, he could be in for a big season.

Rayan Ait-Nouri-6.5/10: Had some nice touches without standing out.

Nico-7/10: A good performance in midfield from Nico. Should do his confidence the world of good.

Nico O’Reilly-6.5/10: Started in midfield and showed that he could do a job there next season.

Oscar Bobb-7.5/10: Played well on the right wing. Showed plenty and looks set for a big season.

Rayan Cherki-8/10: Manchester City’s best player in the first half, in my opinion. Drifted all over the pitch and constantly threatened the Palermo defence.

Omar Marmoush-6/10: Got into some dangerous positions, but it wasn’t his night.

Erling Haaland-7.5/10: Scored Manchester City’s opener, and he looks hungry for a big season.

Substitutes

Ederson-6/10: Did what he had to do without being tested in the Manchester City goal.

Matheus Nunes-7/10: Provided a constant threat going forward after coming on. A good display against from Nunes.

Ruben Dias-7/10: Put in a few good challenges and looks primed for a big season.

Nathan Ake-6.5/10: Slotted in at left-back and brings poise to City’s defence. Like Stones, he must stay fit next season.

Manuel Akanji-6/10: Got through 45 minutes, which was a positive.

Ilkay Gundogan-7/10: A good display from Gundogan. Showed he still has a role to play for Pep Guardiola’s side.

Tijjani Reijnders-9/10: Scored a brace and was superb after coming on at halftime. Looms as an essential player for Manchester City next season.

Bernardo Silva-6/10: Got through 45 minutes with ease after coming on at the interval.

Savinho-7.5/10: Picked up an assist and I thought he played well.

Jeremy Doku-6.5/10: Got into some dangerous positions on the left wing and did what he had to do.

Divine Mukasa-7/10: Made his first-team debut for Manchester City and showed that he belonged. Some nice touches, and his movement was elite. His touch to set up Tijjani Reijnders’ second goal of the game was absolutely sublime.
